Antique Copper Clock Medallion – Elizabethan Era (Circa 1600s)

$4,800.00

A rare, solid copper medallion from an Elizabethan-era timepiece, featuring a classical face motif surrounded by laurel and ribbon forms. Handed down through generations since the 1600s.

Full Description:

This extraordinary antique medallion is a genuine piece of clockwork history, believed to originate from an Elizabethan timepiece dating back to the 1600s. Crafted from solid copper—confirmed by natural oxidation and patina—it features a hauntingly beautiful relief of a classical face encircled by laurel leaves and stylized ribbons, suggestive of victory, wisdom, and the passage of time.

The detailing is exceptional: from the textured curls of the hair to the ornate bordering, it captures the regal sensibility of the period. Sourced directly from my own family estate, this piece has remained in careful hands for centuries.

Once heavily oxidized (as copper does with age), it has been lovingly hand-polished to restore its warm, metallic luster. Due to its solid weight and craftsmanship, this medallion was most likely a central decorative element on a tall-case (or longcase) clock or possibly a ceremonial cabinet.

Key Features:

  • Solid copper (verified by oxidation)

  • Estimated origin: Elizabethan England, early 1600s

  • Measures approximately [insert measurements here]

  • Classical face motif with surrounding foliage

  • From a private family collection, passed down for generations

  • One-of-a-kind historical artifact—suitable for collectors, designers, or museums

Suggested Uses:

Display on a velvet mount, integrate into custom furniture, frame as a conversation piece, or preserve as an heirloom.

Shipping & Authenticity:

Ships securely with insured tracking. A notarized provenance statement can be provided upon request, detailing its lineage in my family collection.
