Vintage Mexican Sterling Silver & Banded Onyx Bracelet (Pre-Eagle, c. 1930s–40s)
This exceptional sterling silver bracelet was handcrafted in Taxco, Mexico, the historic heart of Mexican silversmithing, and purchased by my grandmother during her travels there. A true pre-Eagle era treasure, it bears the simple “SILVER” mark, which was used on authentic sterling Mexican exports before the official eagle assay system was introduced in 1948.
The design features four hinged panels, each set with a large, domed banded onyx cabochon in warm earth tones. Delicate hand-chased scrollwork frames each stone, highlighting the bold geometry and refined artistry that defined early Taxco silverwork.
Heavy and substantial on the wrist, this bracelet reflects the craftsmanship of an era when pieces were made entirely by hand, intended to last generations. The natural onyx stones have a beautiful depth and warmth, making this bracelet a standout collector’s piece as well as a dramatic statement accessory.
